The Artist’s Way peer circle
The Artist’s Way peer circle
A FREE 13 week peer support circle gathering weekly in Chepstow to work with The Artist’s Way book; Julia Cameron’s acclaimed spiritual path to higher creativity.
The books premise is that we are all creative and in undertaking the structured 13 week course of The Artist’s Way we can recover our creative self using use a few simple tools. Who is this for? Everyone! Cameron writes:
‘I have come to believe that creativity is our true nature, that blocks are an unnatural thwarting of a process at once as normal and as miraculous as the blossoming of flower’.
Whatever form your creativity takes; your secret love of colour, texture, words, music, photography, movement, art or nature, be it your hobby or career; it’s not too late or egotistical or selfish to work on your creativity. Meeting as a small peer group, facilitated by therapist Ali ROSE, we will form a creative cluster that offers support as we individually walk the path of recovering our creative self.
The Artist’s Way reminds us that creativity is the natural order of life; that life itself is pure creative energy and you are infused with it and an expression of it.
Creativity is a lens through which life can be experienced; it’s how you cook, garden and view the world.
The step by step approach of the book supports you to overcome your limiting beliefs, fear and inner saboteur and replace them with inner confidence, self-discovery and personal growth, it’s not too late or egotistical or selfish to work on your creativity whatever form that takes; your secret love of colour, texture, words, music, photography, movement, art or nature, be it your hobby or career.
Artists Way requires commitment: daily Morning Pages, weekly exercises and an Artists Date with yourself. This book does not offer concepts, it offers a road map for a practice and though undertaking the daily and weekly tasks set you are creating pathways in your consciousness through which creative forces can operate.
Whilst The Artists Way is in essence a spiritual path, initiated and practiced through creativity, it’s for each person to own their spiritual practice. If the concept of a creative force underlying the universe is a first difficult for you, then Cameron suggests that you remain open-minded and allow yourself to experiment with the idea that there may be a Great Creator such as Dylan Thomas described as ‘the force that through the green fuse drives the flower’ and that you might use it to free your own creativity; or thinking of it as a form of spiritual electricity has, Cameron says, been a useful jumping-off place for many undertaking The Artist’s Way.
I look forward to undertaking this pilgrimage of creative recovery with you!
