FAQs
Do I need to be fit or flexible?
No! What I love about Somatic movement is that we are focused on the internal experience of releasing stress and tension. Bringing conscious awareness to slow movement ,without expectation or strain is not only effective but deeply satisfying!
Somatic movement can benefit posture, unresolved pain and discomfort and stress.
If you have significant mobility or health issues, please consider booking a private session to begin with.
What do `I need to bring?
Just yourself! The SOMA ROOMS is fully equipped with all we could need for our sessions. We have mats, blankets and bolster cushions, but if you prefer to bring your own, you are very welcome to do so.
What should I wear?
Somatic movement is practiced slowly, mostly lying down, so make sure you will can stay warm throughout the session. Wear warm comfortable layers of clothing and socks and trousers with an elasticated waistband.
Is it ok to eat before class?
No, avoid eating anything substantial for a couple of hours before the session. Our movements can focus on the abdominal area and also you may be lying front down on your belly for part of the practice…not comfortable if you’ve just eaten a big meal!
Can I just turn up or do I need to book?
Booking is essential for all sessions. Please contact Ali on 0788 367 8629 or ali@thesomarooms.co.uk.
