Hips, Hamstrings and Happy Feet
Ideally, as our feet meet the ground we want our legs to freely channel the re-bounding energy to our hips and our spine, sadly not the reality for many us.
Discomfort in our feet, knees or hip joints can be accompanied by tightness in leg muscles and then the things we love like walking, running or dancing, become less joyful.
The legs are the natural home of strength and stability, yet when we have pain we transfer the strength to the upper body, bringing stiffness and soreness into the shoulders and neck. Sound familiar?
Why not join me to explore your foot to hip connection using simple satisfying somatic practices that work deeply in the body. This will be a relaxed small group session practiced lying on mats with slow practices that allow us to bring insight and therefore change into your movement habit patterns.
Whilst this practice brings many physical benefits, working with the feet to leg connection is also a great way to work with stress and anxiety. Our feet touching the ground connects our nervous system to the Earth, feeding vital information to the brain about our stability and directionality. We call this process ‘grounding’ and it describes the dynamic contact with the earth that’s possible when our feet and hip connection is awake. So whatever part of your body-mind brings you to our door, you are most welcome!
